Implants are a great option if you are missing one or more teeth. An implant takes the place of missing tooth or teeth roots, once placed they can support crowns, bridges or dentures.
 

Implants are becoming increasingly popular and more affordable, they are the gold standard in many cases to replace missing teeth. An implant is a small metal screw (usually titanium), which is placed very precisely into the jaw bone- careful planning is required to ensure the amount and quality of bone is sufficient and there are no structures in the area, after this the bone heals and grows around the screw (this is called osseointegration and is why implants are so secure). Once the implant is stable the structure that will replace the tooth or teeth is constructed.
 

Implants are also susceptible to gum disease so careful pre- and post- placement oral hygiene routines are put in place, we carefully monitor implants for early signs of gum inflammation and work closely with our practice hygienist to ensure the health of your implant.
